What makes a will valid in India

  • Must be in writing (handwritten, typed, or printed).
  • Signed by the testator (you) at the bottom.
  • Witnessed by two adult witnesses who watch you sign and sign themselves. Witnesses cannot be beneficiaries.
  • Registration is optional but recommended for added legal weight (₹100 fee).
  • No stamp paper required (per Indian Succession Act).
